sigh. never been there. never left the US for any reason.

OTOH, last week, I applied for a passport fo the first time. Don't know when I'll ever use it, but who knows. My father has gone back to Ireland a number of times over the years to find the house he grew up in, the house he was born in. (One of those two is still there.)

Ireland is a beautiful place nowadays.

In the 80’s I had friends that fled from there.
It was a harsh place. Now they lead the EU in productivity

I’ve been to Ireland once - spent a month there. My ancestors, with a few exceptions who came over earlier, all came over from the Famine.

That’s very cool that your Dad has been back to his childhood home.

Never been across any oceans myself, but hope to someday get to Ireland and Scotland. Kiddos were there on a Boy Scout trip a few years back, and that experience still holds exciting and fond memories for them.
