Conservative does not have to mean support for aggressive Militarism. Sensible militarism in defense of US territory and US citizens and their property, yes. On this issue, Ron Paul is a strong as you can be.

But is immediate withdrawal from Iraq really a viable option? Will it not leave a power vacuum?
For that matter, this gold standard business seem odd to me. Or am I just not “conservative” enough for it?

On this issue, Ron Paul is a strong as you can be Paul's view is the same as John Murtha's. I pray I never need you people to defend my country.

...and 'sensible militarism' does not include the type of abrupt withdrawal that most in the Paul camp seem to espouse. Sorry, but until Paul "gets this", he's simply not an option.

You are on the Wrong website. You should try the Daily Kos.
That anti-american crap is never going to sell here, even if you dress it up as old-school isolationism.

Sensible militarism in defense of US territory Do you believe that also means putting the military and national guard on the border to help control illegal immigration?

Can you point me to any of his position papers? Something with an actual plan of action?
I’m especially interested in his Military and Foreign Policy positions.
Thank you.

Oh, BS. The man is on record stating that ‘a few submarines’ would provide an adequate defense. That hardly qualifies the man as being “as strong as you can be”.
