You will never find a politician you can get elected to anything more than a local town race who will be an uncompromising ideologue. The chance of getting such a man elected President is less than the chance that we’ll elect that Asteroid some people have been joking about the past week.

If you will go back to my post #212, you will see that I am interested ONLY in facts. The same facts that you repeated here as if I forgot to mention them. I KNOW what the AWB did, very well. I had to live under its inspiration, the NJ AWB (which actually banned existing rifles-no grandfathering), so you had better believe that I studied the law very closely.
I’m on the same side as you - I DESPISED the AWB, and always will despise ANY gun ban. I don’t believe in compromising away our rights, same as you.

...well, you are entitle to your opinion. But in my opinion, knowing who the enemy is when he/she controls all the levers of power is not much of a help. I personally think that we’ll be better off with a RINO nominating even Souter-type judges and Justices, than with Hillary or Obama nominating Ginsburg and Stevens clones. Similarly, we’ll be better off if the likes of Chuck Schumer don’t get named as Attorney General (with the BATFE being an agency within the DOJ). If the Dems continue to control Congress, a RINO President likely won’t see gun legislation that does much damage.
Am I happy with the state of our politics at the moment? Hell, no! But it’d be worse under any of the Dems. Just my opinion.
