He was doing excellent low-impact, aerobic exercise, before it was called 'low-impact aerobics'.
He was ahead of his time on lots of things. He opened the first weight training gym in New York (I believe) in the 1930’s, even though everybody (doctors and such) said it was not good for you. He had to give keys to local athletes on the sly because coaches wouldn’t let their players go and pump iron, saying it would make them become “muscle-bound and slow”.
