Rush Limbaugh: May Not Support GOP Nominee

Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh stunned his listeners by announcing that he might not support the Republican presidential nominee in this year’s election.

Limbaugh said on Monday’s show: "I can see possibly not supporting the Republican nominee this election, and I never thought that I would say that in my life."

The reason: “You don’t have a genuine down-the-list conservative” among the GOP candidates.

“Wherever you go here in this roster of candidates, you're going to be able to point out ‘not conservative, what he did there is not conservative’” Rush said.

The Republican front-runners want the nomination “because it's their turn,” he also stated. “We tried that in '96 with Bob Dole and now they're running the same scenario…

"I'm telling ya, it's gonna come down to which guy do we dislike the least. And that's not necessarily good."

Rush was not talking about a brokered convention as many of the posts on this thread are saying. He was talking about what he would do if McCain becomes the nominee, and he is correct.

Rush said this today, "If one such as myself happens to believe that there's not too much of a substantive difference between Mrs. Clinton and a couple of the Republican potential nominees -- and if I believe that either the Republican or Democrat nominee is going to cause great damage and harm to the country -- I would just as soon it happen on the watch of a Democrat. "

He made a point that not all the GOP candidates fall into this category, but there are apparently candidates on the ticket he would not vote for.

I can’t hold my nose and vote for Romney. Mc Cain was never my choice, but when it comes down to a guy who spent 5 years in the Hanoi Hilton and Hillary or Obama, I will take the former POW any day. Sorry guys. He’s still a person who like me went to an unpopular war and did what he thought was the right thing for his country. What did Romney or any of his 5 sons do for their country

I agree with you about Romney. And I might agree with you on McCain. Gotta go reconsider his record in the Congress.

Yawn......

Rush is no kingmaker. If he chooses not to, so be it.

And if the Republican Nominee wins without his support, what will he have proven? That he doesn’t have the influence that he thinks he does... just like the rabid evangelical leaders who think they can play kingmaker.

Rush is not alone in this, A lot of the right wing talk radio personalities are behaving this way, as are a lot of right wing people... some of them are becoming so radicalized over their guy or no one they look and sound like the screaming leftists on their cause dejour.

Its embarrassing.

It doesn't matter who wins, Rush has skewered them all straight through like a Rush Kabob. "If McCain or Huckabee win, then the GOP will be destroyed". Well, if Rudy or Flip win you might as well say the same, because the Maharushie has already served the Koolaid. There is no way the Red State South is ever going to vote for gun grabbing, carpetbagging, child sacrificing take your pick:(Rudy Mayor of New Sodom or Flip the Governor of Gay Marrigchusetts) so it's already over!

By the time this Hurricane Katrina of an election gets to KY I'm going to enjoy voting for Ron Paul.

Don’t be such a whiny, self-righteous ass. I’m a decorated, retired veteran. I have one son at the Air Force Academy and one in the Marines. We all support Romney and honor the choices his sons have made. They’re all good men, married, and are raising great kids. That’s quite a contribution.

The GOP had better rally around Mitt, or we will be stuck with Hillary. Simple as that.

I would just as soon it happen on the watch of a Democrat.

Now thats an idea!

Watching this repeated on a Federal level is not something I will be responsible for having helped happen.

April 12, 2006. Gov. Mitt Romney signs Massachusetts Universal Health Care law, as Sen. Ted Kennedy, standing behind him, gives his approval and support.
