Why do they want to spend all that money when the Drive-By Media will do it for free?

Paul Harvey ( http://paulharvey.com/) just mentioned (Thursday morning, Jan 24, 2008 edition) this campaign by Americans United for Change, stating that they were planning to spend some millions of dollars in a campaign to lower Bush's approval numbers.

Here's my transcript of Paul Harvey's comments on this:

Approval ratings for President Bush are down to 34%, dismal. There is big money on the downside. Americans United for Change intend to keep it down. That liberal advocacy outfit intends to make certain that the president remains unpopular. Now and for a year they will advertise and emphasis his failures. The organization will spend 8.5 million donated dollars seeking to keep President Bush's public approval rating down.

The Republicans didn't make any significant gains in Congress until 1994, and it wasn't Ronald Reagan who created that momentum but Bill and Hillary Clinton, and the corruption in Congress under Democratic leadership. The Clinton attempt to nationalize health care created such a negative reaction that the American electorate pulled the legislative rug out from under Bill Clinton, who made a sharp turn to the right to hang onto his job two years later.

That was true, but how could the author forget the backlash from the Brady Bill ans the so-called "assault weapons ban"? That's why Romney is thin gruel as the GOP nominee, and why the GOP needs a brokered convention in 2008. Romney is weak on the Second Amendment, and the GOP needs those voters badly.
