Fischer spent years in the Philippines. He certainly would have had the opportunity to see many Catholic requiems.
Perhaps the aesthetics appealed to him.

I had no idea that he had converted to Catholicism. Good for him.

What am eccentric, yes, and he figured out how to avoid the tentacles of the American tax apparatus. Too brilliant for our sheeple

Father Rolland said she organized the funeral together with a group of Fischers friends in Iceland. Is this a big time typo? (she)

I hope he converted and repented of his previous hateful statements. From what other freepers have said, he may have been mentally ill. I can see how Catholicism can provide shelter and comfort to someone who needs structure in their lives.

The “she” refers to Miyoko Watai, not to the priest himself.
To: Just mythoughts
It's a typo, It should read:
Father Rolland said "She organized the funeral together with a group of Fischers friends in Iceland."
Father Rolland was referring to Miyoko Watai.

Nicodemus..............who came to the Lord by night.........
None of us, none of us knows what can happen between a man and God in his final days and hours.
To: Just mythoughts
“Only five people attended the ceremony, including his Japanese friend Miyoko Watai, who traveled from Japan to attend to the funeral. Father Rolland said she organized the funeral together with a group of Fischers friends in Iceland.”
Are you saying that Miyoko is a “he?”

What made him turn away from his Jewish roots? Was there a particular incident?
