This is Kit’s last term. He hasn’t said so, but that’s his vibe.

It depends...surveys seem to be showing an upward trend of producing it Mih-ZUR-ee. That’s the way I’ve always pronounced it.

I remember my fourth-grade teacher launching into a diatribe about it being Mih-ZUR-uh. She said she didn’t want to hear any of us pronouncing it the other way. It never made sense to me, because we don’t pronounce the nearby river as the Mississipuh.

Actually, it may have been Kit Bond I saw. Anyway, he said it in a way I’ve never heard: “Muh-ZUR-uh”. He softened the first syllable to sound like “uh”.

That’s a well thought out statement. Do you have anything to back it up?

Yes. Some of it personal from years ago (when he had just become AG) and some with the way he behaves on high profile cases (such as the Taum Sauk dam failure). I also lived in Columbia for 21 years and knew people from Jefferson City who knew him personally. He is like NY's Spitzer and many other state AGs who manipulate that office for personnel (political) gain.

He’s from California, but he called it “Muhzooruh”. I’ve always said “Mizouree”. How do they pronounce it there?

It's Missouree. The politicians pronounce it Missourah to try and sound folksy (kinda like Hillary's black dialect). It sickens me, but even the good ones (like Ashcroft and Hulshof) do it.

Jay has been a fair to good AG. He is just a very political guy that has taken many positions on social issues, such as Amendment 2 (Stem Cell Research) that I cannot get over. I know guys that went to HS with him and think he is okay on a personal level but that he becomes a much different guy when the camera light goes on and he is around to see it.

On the second amendment; He is the AG who took the Mo.state CCW legislation to the state supreme court in support of the individuals right to carry. He also filed a amicus brief with the U.S.Supreme Court in the D.C. firearms decision in support of the indivudual’s right to own a firearm in D.C..
If you are speaking of fetal stem cell research, and he supports, he’s dead wrong.

Who’s going to run, Clair’s mother? We need a conservative to follow Bond in the worst way.

Bond voted for the amnesty bill, initially. After we melted down his phone, he changed his mind.

Jim Talent, perhaps?

I hope not.Great guy,lousy campaigner.

What a lousy day for me. My two favorite candidates this year dropping out the same day. I walked precincts and made phone calls for Matt in 2004 and on the volunteer list already this time around!

That or else Romney has picked him for V/P spot.

Putting the cart before the horse, isn't he? Romney hasn't even won the top spot yet.

Probably for the same reason why Nevada, Mo. is Nehvayduh.

Matt is in trouble with some emails he deleted regarding Mohila loans. His upcoming opponent (Jay Nixon) has the goods on him or at least that is speculated. That has been ongoing for some time.
