“Principle only ... electability ... never!”
That attitude got us 16 years of Democratic hell from 1964 to 1980. (Yes, I include the Nixon/Ford years, when the RATS in Congress ran roughshod over the Presidency.) Reagan was both principled and electable. We need both.
Reagan was UNELECTABLE. WILD. CRAZY. EXTREME. And he was BOOOO’d at the 76 GOP National Convention.
We nominated him ANYWAY... and THAT is what has changed.
