“Mitt/Thompson”

Only if you can promise me that Mitt has incurable cancer and will die in 12 1/2 months.

There are millions of people who don’t want to be President. And they won’t become President, either.

I do give us credit but unfortunately the GOP doesn’t. The GOP Moderates and libs have used their minority in the party along with the Rats to block every Conservative principle. The Moderates play this game every election and get the nomination then surround themselves with Conservatives to appease the base without the base control. There is no Conservative Candidate now with Thompson out so our only hope at this point is a Conservative VP or the Moderate Candidate having Conservatives surround them but they will not be in the control position. The point of my statement was that whatever RINO gets the nomination and picks the Conservative running mate will get the vote even by us that have previously claimed we would never vote for the RINO.

Well, he did drop out.

I would imagine she didn’t think he was viable.

Her favorite was Hunter, but I think she didn’t “get on his bus” either.

Early in the race, she did try to get hosts on semi-conservative Fox News to talk up Hunter, but they wouldn’t.

The GOP and the liberals and the MSM are afraid to let conservative ideas get out to the public

The people might elect one, and none of the above groups want a conservative president.

Besides, it was all for moot because Congress never got close to the 2/3 vote necessary to impeach.

Clinton was impeached by the House.

He is an impeached president.

He was not convicted in the senate.

He should have been. Many spines were in lockboxes.

Let's give Fred some time to think about it.

And the rest of them are either dealing with preparations for the Thursday debates and the FL primary or figuring out if they are staying in (making deals or whatever).

So let Fred have his time to wind down and be with his family. Is his mother deathly ill or what?

Okay, I do know that and was imprecise in hurriedly describing the history in my response.

Still no defense for the lame attack of Fred on this matter by Ann. It was not Fred's fault that Clinton wasn't convicted and she more than implied this and it stuck because a large part of our electorate is just plain stupid.

Until now, I haven’t given much credence to the idea of Fred as VP. But, Bill Sammon is a solid reporter.

I think Romney would do well to add Thompson to the ticket. Thompson would add credibility where Romney lacks it, and would unite conservatives behind a single candidate.

Additionally — Thompson is from the South, an area where Romney needs some help.

I’m on board — Romney/ Thompson 2008.

Sorry, but I heard this rumor among the various campaigns we have been in contact with on the road in South Carolina. We even ran into Senator Coburn (R-Oklahoma) at one of the McCain events and confronted him about his endorsement of McCain. He told us that McCain promised him personally that he would not push for an amnesty and that he would fight McCain "tooth and nail" if he tried it.

Coburn has been with us on immigration, which is why his endorsement of McCain was such a surprise along with the Thune endorsement. These guys believe that national security [read the war] and fiscal discipline trump everything else.

Don't be surprised if Thompson endorses McCain and does so prior to Super Tuesday for maximum effect. We have been in contact with the Thompson campaign thru Kris Kobach, Thompson's adviser on immigration issues. We have expressed repeatedly our disappointment with Thompson's failure to attack McCain more energetically over immigration. Thompson had the best and most detailed plan on immigration and border security, but was reluctant to use it.

Politics makes strange bedfellows so don't bank on anything. I hope you are right, but I fear you are wrong.

There are millions of people who don’t want to be President. And they won’t become President, either.

And few are actually qualified. It again reminds me of Hitchhiker's Guide, anyone wanting to be president is ipso facto not qualified.

Reagan was UNELECTABLE. WILD. CRAZY. EXTREME. And he was BOOOO’d at the 76 GOP National Convention.

We nominated him ANYWAY... and THAT is what has changed.

“Considering John McCain might very well only serve one term,”

The only way McCain would leave power is in a box. He’s a megalomaniac.

Fred did vote to impeach Clinton (and it was the House that actually votes, not the Senate)
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You seem to be confused, Fred voted to CONVICT, yes, it is the house that votes to impeach but Fred was not in the house. Clinton WAS impeached which means to bring charges, he was not convicted by the Senate but Fred did vote to convict on one count which would have been sufficient to remove Clinton from office if others had had enough spine to support conviction. Bill Clinton is the only ELECTED president to ever be impeached, Andrew Johnson was the first president to be impeached but he was not elected, he was Lincoln’s VP and became President after Lincoln’s assassination.

“He’s had criticisms of McCain too...that’s why I’ll be very jaded if he endorses McAmnesty.”

His criticism was: I disagree with my friend John on a couple issues. That’s not criticism. That’s a comment.

>>He wasn’t running a very aggressive campaign. It seemed that he really did not want to be President.<<

That’s not the way I see it. Fred didn’t do the monkey dance required by the MSM, but apparently the GOP voters wanted the monkey dance as well. Now the MSM is overjoyed because the starts of future presidential elections are going to be earlier than ever, so they will have plenty to talk about.

Fred tried to run a dignified campaign on the issues, but that did not matter. He didn’t fit the stereotyped mold the voters expected.

LOL. Your posts have always been right on about Fred, pissant. Too bad so many ‘conservatives’ wanted to waste their vote on Thompson.
