McLean, VA - Senator Fred Thompson today issued the following statement about his campaign for President:
"Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people."

I worked on the losing gubernatorial campaign of Bret Schundler here in Jersey back in '01. In his concession speech, he hammered the theme, "the good fight is the good life" continually. He was right. Even though we might not always win, it is the fact of being a fighter for something you believe so strongly in makes you a better, more well-rounded, and interesting person than the regular boring schlub.
You guys have nothing to be ashamed of. You're both great assets to conservatism and FR.

The problem is, there is no one else that’s acceptable. No one.
I’d so hoped to not have to hold my nose to vote. I am faced the first time in my voting life with the possibility of actually staying home. I’ve never done that before, don’t usually believe in it.
The Fix is apparently in anyway, my small vote is obviously meaningless against the faux-conservatives that rule the party and what passes for conservative news commentary in this country these days.
That's the Clinton game plan, IMO. Hillary and Bill both remember that WJC won the presidency with 43% of the popular vote in '92. I've been predicting such a scenario on FR for the past two years.

Ya know what, it's not so much the media in as much as people in general are just freaking stupid. We hang out on forums with people of higher than average intelligence on a regular basis and forget what morons average people are. What else could explain the top 3 douches remaining in the race and Thompson out? People are dumb.

I’d say there’s no “possibly” about it. None of the remaining Libservatives show an ounce of fortitude.
I’m going 3rd party or write-in. I can’t in good conscience vote for another RINO.
