Being right on the issues is not enough. You have to be able and willing to campaign. And Fred was NOT the man in that regard.

Yes. The idea of Fred was a lot more appealing than the reality. The whole reason behind the idea of Fred was that he was supposed to be this incredibly charming spokesman for conservatism and without that, he's just another conservative ideologue in wide field.

The acting thing never really kicked in for him, did it? I don’t know why, but he never used his greatest strength on the campaign trail. And it showed. Boy, howdy, did it show.

But...we need to move on.

As I have said (and others also), we need to get behind Romney.

But McCain is going to be very hard to stop now. If he wins in FL, he will wrap it up on 2/5.

Then...choking back tears...we have to get behind McCain, just as Reagan got behind Ford in 1976.
