Thanks for your thoughtful response!

It is off of the thread topic and it would take pages for me to answer your questions, but I'll try to summarize. I am the granddaughter of legal Italian immigrants. This Country consists of immigrants, so no, I'm not against LEGAL immigration, but that isn't what is going on here. First, I think the large influx of people from the middle east, who have no desire to assimilate, but instead, demand their rights for their religion, is VERY dangerous to the Freedom we enjoy in this Country. (Look at the demise of Europe)

I'm the grandson/great grandson of legal and illegal immigrants. I'm also very much for LEGAL immigration. I'm for greatly increased legal immigration. I think that any country with a culture that is hostile to the U.S. should be cut off, with the exception of asylum seekers. I think increased birthrate is the answer to the demise of Europe.

Secondly, I think that the people smuggled here from Mexico to satisfy cheap labor for big business, and to add a new poverty class for the Democrats, is also very unAmerican. They are the new "slaves" and it is indefensible.

I agree with you again. I think that illegal Mexican and Central American immigrants are being brutally exploited, most of all by the Democrats. I'm glad that they are willing to do so many tough jobs and I think that we need them for that reason. I'm glad that so many like making babies and are family/church going/Christian people. But they should not be deprived of the economic freedom which enables upward mobility because of fear. Hopelessness in the face of prosperity breeds dependency, crime, and neglect. After the border is secured, WITH A FENCE, if they know english and they can prove that they worked hard, and they have gone home, let's get them back here where they belong, legally and quickly.

I also think that instead of Mexico criticizing us, they should improve their own country and take care of their citizens, instead of expecting the U.S. to take on even more people that can't take care of themselves.

I don't think it's Mexico's business to take care of their citizens except ensure their freedom, keep them safe from crime and get out of their way.

Your questions and points are great, but I don't ever see our government doing those things!

We will fix these problems, we must.

Yes! I agree.

Hopelessness in the face of prosperity breeds dependency, crime, and neglect.

Exactly. And the Democrats are determined to keep people hopeless with their class warfare rhetoric.

I don't think it's Mexico's business to take care of their citizens except ensure their freedom, keep them safe from crime and get out of their way.

I wish OUR government would do that!

You are correct, I was wrong to say Mexico should "take care" of its citizens, I just meant they should quit criticizing America and take care of their own problems.

My reasons for being against both McCain and Huckabee are that not only are they NOT conservatives, they are both very liberal. In regards to illegals, they weren't interested in enforcing the law. I am an ex police officer, and to see the government pick and choose which laws they are going to enforce, totally exasperates me.

We will fix these problems, we must.

I pray that you are correct.
