Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.
Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.
Lots of threads addressing this including one from Jim Rob about a week and a half ago (the night Thompson won the debate) or more. The general conclusion is Romney.
“Conservatism in the GOP doesnt die with any particular candidate. Fred, as it turns out, was an incredibly poor vehicle to attach anything to. But that doesnt mean that we are done. We will live to fight another campaign cycle and hopefully we will find somebody good next time, or, ideally, several good guys and let the best man win. Being right on the issues is not enough. You have to be able and willing to campaign. And Fred was NOT the man in that regard.”
That needed to be posted again.
Romney is the ONLY candidate who makes sense, and the only won with winnability.
Put Romney and his wife and family alongside sHrillary or Bomb-o Brack-A, and Romney just LOOKS like a winner before even opening his mouth.
With his intelligence, business smarts, and conservative promotion - Romney will win over the majority of Americans.
I’m literally in tears right now.
Mom’s telling me to get over it, that he never would’ve won, that he was too old, etc. But then again, she’s a Hillary supporter, and she would say that.
Como ussta ostead.... uh, Cumo ostead oowstead.. ugh... have to brush up on my spanish :-(
He’s too smart to endorse anyone.
This is no great shock.
So, now that it can no longer be denied, here we are.
We have the following choices:
McCain
Huckabee
Romney
Giuliani
Paul
Third-party
Stay home
So, now what?
I lean towards holding my nose for Romney. I cannot vote for Giuliani or McCain.
Never have I been a protesting non-voter, but Im pretty sure Ill end up being one in November.
I never in all my life will understand people who protest and don’t vote!!!!!!!
I am truly at a loss as to who I might vote for now. Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee are out of the question, and I’m not sure the rest are viable.
/sigh/
Like I said...
So now that Fred is “out of the race” and we are left with not much hope of Duncan Hunter getting any facetime at the debates, who is in the “running” for VP for whichever moderate Republican we get stuck with on top of the ticket?
VP nominees don’t have to be former presidential candidates...
Considering the source (Fox and specifically Cameron), I’ll wait for independent verification.
If true, however, it gives me pretty much a good excuse to “check out” of politics for a while, considering that my #2 choice has been “none of the above” for some time now. I cannot bring myself to campaign for, or vote in the primaries for any of the following:
* Giuliani: A social liberal with a nasty authoritarian streak and the personal morals of an alleycat
* Romney: A northeastern liberal flip-flopper who thinks government has all the answers (he wants to “manage” the people of this country as if they were HIS employees, not vice-versa)
* McCain: Oddly enough, the most conservative (viable) candidate remaining, but when he goes off the reservation, he REALLY goes off
* Huckabee: No thanks to “big government for Jesus” and thinking that “love thine enemies” applies to foreign policy
* Paul: National security is issue #1, and Paul fails miserably
Don't you think Fred Thompson would make an announcement of his own or at least have someone connected with his campaign make the announcement?
And if it is true, why wouldn't he do it now rather than later?
Don't believe Thompson will endorse anyone. If he should decide it will be Romney. Romney/Thompson. That would be good by RATS.
You are suffering from electile disfunction: The inability to get excited about any of the available candidates.
'Cause, ya know, bad news goes away if you kill the messenger.
You forgot the rending or garments (...rend, rend...)
I voted for FRed last Tuesday here in MI. Don't regret it for a minute.
It’s Romney now folks.
