When a team puts together a string like NE has, life becomes surreal.
Players start questioning whether they should play “loose” (but they know they can’t) or “hungry” (but that becomes increasingly phony). They deserve to be confident but that might turn into cockiness. They don’t want to be dismissive of the other team, but why not, they always beat everybody, even when they don’t play that well.
As I said it becomes surreal.
And there is simply no way for a coach to mange it.
