What I found most interesting about the NFLN commercial where Hasslebeck discusses that (besides the fact that they were airing it while people were griping about the Pats stealing signals) is he’s on the offense, he was talking about radioed in signals not visual.

That's interesting. I'd figure they'd use a simple codec/encryptor in the electronics. It's not hard to do, but it is a major pain to crack.

Of course the way the league standardizes equipment they either might not be able to use encryptors, or might all have to use the same ones and Holmgren figures it’s crackable, or maybe NFL coaches are even more paranoid than anyone previously thought.

I have a question about the roughing the passer penalty against Green Bay. As I recall, their defense deflected the pass before the penalty occurred. Shouldn’t the deflection have negated the calling of the penalty, as it would for a roughing the kicker call, if the kick is blocked or at least touched?

They were suspected as far back as 2002 of this but where only caught this year.

If that isn't revisionism, then it's class-A stupidity. Signal stealing is only useful in real-time until someone realizes you are doing it. At that point, they either change the signals, or use them to sabotage you.

The "Stealing the Playbook" charge is simply silly, and reveals a mental disconnect with the idea that what the defense does is visible to all(internationally), and legally filmed and reviewed.

LOL, The NYY were “juiced up” in the 1950’s and 60’s? Of course you have proof of this?

Didn’t think so, just another envious Yankee hater. But the NYY never cheated. Of course the RED SOX DID get nailed breaking the rules, just like the PATS. Must be something in the water up there that causes an overwhelming need to win at any cost.

Well, it IS Massachusetts, after all.

Difference is the Pats were ALL caught (couches) while Only Giambi and Pettite admitted to anything and what Pettite used wasn’t illegal.

The charges of rampant “juicing” in baseball is sport wide and not confined to the NYY. This cheating scandal is all about the Pats.

I only think that if the Pats were stealing the other teams' playbooks which could be a possibility,

As I understand, that's one of the things Belichick was peeved at Mangini about - he took all his playbooks with him. ...That and interfering with Patriot players, trying to get them to jump ship despite exisiting contracts.

Here’s the difference. All of what you mentioned was known by virtually the entire league as it happened. Ford’s cutting the ball was picked up by umps plenty of times and the ball was removed from the game. It was almost a game within a game with all players from all teams doing what they could to gain an edge. I’ve followed BB since the early 50’s and witnessed the sharpened spikes used to cut an opponent, the deliberate intimidation by pitchers by throwing at the heads of opposition players who dared to hit a home run off them, etc.

In the case of the Pats though it was different since no other team did what they were caught doing or were not caught which amounts to the same thing for arguments sake..

No pixs this time, guys, only my side of hash on football cheating in this day and age: NFL, college, high school, jr high or Pee Wee.

In this age of video cameras, anyone, I repeat, anyone can tape a teams’ formations and signals both offense and defense. Then it is only a matter of close study to find keys and such to guide one to what is what. It happens all the time and the Pats got caught doing it in a way not specified by the league rules.

Cheating whether it is called that or 'taking advantage of the situation' is going to always be with us the same as Shite Happens!. The day of honor and good sportsmanship are way past, I am very sad to say. The age of Clinton and their liberal ilk has chase those traits out of the barn and burnt the whole shebang of civility and gentlemen to the ground and poured salt into the earth. So, unless the cheating is visibly blatant and/or they get caught, learn to live with it.

The Patriots are a fine football team and have a very good chance of going an undefeated 19-0. I have never been a Pats fan but neither have I even been a Pats hater like I was in my younger days towards the Packers (Who beat my Cowboys like a rented mule!) and am still nowadays with the Deadskins, Iggles and Jints

Some of their fans, especially a few on this very thread, have made me the next thing to a Pats hater, but I will try and be civil about this and simply wish both the P-Rats and Manning Lite both lose in two week! But I’d rather have them soulless Jints win that hearing from this above mentioned certain FRers shouting “19-0” infinitum!

Yeah...that seemed like a lame call to me. The defender was very close to the QB already, and the ball was headed up in the air, making the QB still part of the play.

Those with Patriots Derangement Syndrome will never agree with your assessment. They have a personality plaw similar to Moveon.org and Daily Kos subscribers.

Now, now, big... I never had you in mind as one of those. I've known you long enough to know for certain that your are a mild mannered Patriots fan who would never push their record or accomplishments onto other unduly.

Plus, I've known you long enough... to know you are full of horse manure and I act accordingly!

I only watched the fist season of “Lost” and stopped when they kept getting stranger and stranger.

However, I think it is in episode two, three or four when Kate and Sawyer go swimming in a waterfall filled lagoon. Kate shimmys down to her— Well she has a bikini like outfit on, you see.

Could you get about a half dozen screencaps and send them to me of her? Tell Lil they are for me and she won’t mind.
