jveritas, I respect your opinion, as I see you as someone who has been one of the least hysterical during this primary season. I was just mentioning to my husband how funny it is how much & how quickly things have changed during this primary season. First, Rudy was the front-runner, and everyone was taking shots at his “cross dressing abortionist views”, etc... and he was dragged down. McCain, who has always been despised by conservatives, had several early campaign missteps and his candidacy was considered “dead”. Huckabee? Very few people had even heard of him. And Thompson entered the campaign at the last (possibly too late) minute. Fast forward to the present, McCain is the front-runner, Huckabee top tier candidate, both the “true conservative” Fred as well as the “crossdressing abortionist” Rudy way down in the polling. Very bizarre.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Captain Kangaroo were to be exhumed & became the republican nominee.
However, I’m coming to the belief that we’re just going to come full circle; Hillary will be the dem nominee, Huckabee will just be a bad, frightening memory, McCain will continue to be an angry, bitter thorn in the side of conservatives, but the nominee is going to be Romney or Rudy. And I could sleep at night with either of them as our nominee.
Thank you FRiend. I believe the nomination of Romney is still possible, I will give it 35% chance versus 65% for McCain. Regarding Guiliani, I think it is over for him but if he pulls it out by a miracle, and it will be indeed a miracle, then Guiliani should win the “genius” prize for the most stunning and effective primaries strategy in history.
