Umm no. The gang of 14 resulted in a number of great Conservative judges getting the shaft to pander to the egos of John McCain and Democrat Senators. The Nuke option would of achieved the same end resulting in Roberts and Alito getting nominated without the sell out of solid Conservative lower court judges by the Gang.

I'm no McCain fan. But isn't it the case that, if they had gone with the Nuke option, we would now be in the minority with no filibuster?

Again, I agree with you mostly but disagree that a McCain appointment would be unacceptable. Additionally, we may need the ability to filibuster nominees if Hillary is elected.
