Did choosing Bush make Reagan a sell-out, or diminish respect for him?

Of course not but McCain is a completely different animal. He is the antithesis of what the GOP should be looking for in a nominee. His favorite sport is pissing off the rank and file of our party and then telling us to shut up and take it because he knows better...and the s.o.b. gets away with it because of his P.O.W. status. There is no telling what a McCain Presidency would do. I shudder at the prospect.

McCain’s physical and mental health have raised questions. I saw him deplane yesterday, and he appeared not in robust health.

” ....a McCain Presidency ... I shudder at the prospect.”

Agree. So, if the scenario of McCain as the presidential nominee were to happen, wouldn’t you rather he have someone like Fred as VP? Not that I think Fred would take it. He’d be better of personally/financially going back into his acting career. But if he thought it was in the best interest of the country, I think he’d accept. He is at an age where he would not be using the Vice Presidency to advance political ambition and would serve more as Cheney has served.

If we DO end up with McCain as the GOP nominee, I pray to God the #2 spot goes to someone more stable, more conservative. I would not lose respect for Fred or Duncan Hunter if, under this scenario, they accepted the VP spot. I’d be very grateful.
