I wanted Thompson to be this golden boy savior when it was rumored that he’d come into the race. I watched some speech of his in California last year and I was very saddened that this was the best the right could present to the voters of America. It’s not good enough to be a reliable voter on the issues-— that’s what you require of a congresscritter. A president has to be able to lead, to persuade, to inspire. Fred can’t do that.

But when Fred gets his speech warmed up (I will admit it needs a few turns on the old crank), and you listen to what he's saying, he IS brilliant and he IS inspiring, and he is just dam* correct.
