Fred’s Zero Hour Exhortation: We Shouldn’t Change Our Principles

It’s do-or-die day for Fred, and if he goes he’s not going quietly

The right kind of speech for election eve is almost always a broad declaration of principles, mixed with get-out-the-vote exhortations, and that’s what Thompson did Friday night. But he had a more specific message, too, directed to the debate going on inside the Republican party these days. And the message was: Don’t listen to those people who say the party has to change. Stick to the conservative principles that got us here

“The Founding Fathers had it right from the very beginning,” Thompson said. :The wisdom of the ages, the fact that our basic rights come from God and not from government, the notion that a government big enough and powerful enough to give you anything is big enough and powerful enough to take anything away from you “respect for the rule of law”the institution of the market economy”[the belief] that if a person earned a dollar, that dollar belonged in the person’s pocket” Those should be our guiding principles, he said.

It’ll be a real shame if Fred isn’t the GOP’s nominee as I just don’t think there’s any other candidate in the field who is standing on principle as Fred is. By the way, in what was probably the last poll before voting today it looks like Fred has plenty of momentum:

I tried watching Fox on the evening of the Iowa caucus, and they made me so mad, I ended up switching between CNN and C-SPAN. Yes, CNN! I haven’t watched them in years, but I could tolerate them more than Fox. Pretty sad.

I am not turning on Fox today, unless Thompson somehow trounces McCain or Huckabee, then I might enjoy tuning in.

I mean all Americans, who are created equal.

Thanks for "clarifying." It seems to be a common ... um... trait for Huckabee and his campaign.

Huck is edging up against Fred. I ain’t worried. The last thing the gommorhic Nevadans want is Huckabee in their face.

from CNN today.........

...said Kay Burns, who said she voted for Sen. John McCain of Arizona because “I like what he stands for.”

Others said they voted for Huckabee.
“I like the fact he’s a Christian,” said voter Stacee Groome.

Kay Burns’ husband, Ellus, said he voted for former Sen. Fred Thompson of Tennessee because of his “presentation, maturity and Reaganism.” Burns said the most important issues for him are the economy and international relations

Not only that CNN does a better graphic package that shows all the canidate. Fox, at least the one time I got to watch during a primary, only showed the top 2

I don’t think you are going to get many people backing you up here AS.
This isn’t Dem. Underground and the disagreements are much less crass than with frothing libs.
You are as crude as FF is likeable and I think you owe an apology.

I haven't tuned into Fox in 8 months. It's refreshing.

Yes. Read it, know it, love it. America's most fundamental and foundational statement.

I keep refreshing the page but it’s still at 29% of the precincts.

Hiya Johnnie :)

Not sure about McCain leading in FL. 35% of votes already cast and the only one concentrating on FL is Rudy. His ads are playing well and his speeches packed.

I’m in the bizarre position as a FL voter of waiting til voting’s done in SC. If Fred does well then I vote for him on Monday. If not, ( I can’t even tell you how hard I’m praying he does) then I have to vote against McCain and Huckabee and go with Rudy. I can live with that, I remember 911 and have no doubt Rudy remembers more than I do. I was proud of him that day.

That said, It’s truly a blight on our society when voting in primaries becomes almost like voting on Survivor. With strategy and no heart. I’m disgusted.

Paul’s showing isn’t odd. Cacuces tend to go to the best organized. You got to get your people out on time and in force. Paul maybe doesn’t have much of a following but what he has is fanatical. Cacuses are by far the best platform for him to do well.

Not 29% of precincts -- 29 precincts or about 2%
