Today is the day.
No. We got Roberts and Alito in spite of the gang of 14. The gang of 14 prevented the President from filling many lower federal appeals court nominations.
Because of the Gang we are in the minority with no nuke option. 5 of the 7 Repbos are still in the Senate and still pledged to the deal.
I’m pretty sure the GOP will carry Utah regardless. Utah is perhaps the most coservative state in the whole country.
Ok, so why is everyone at freerepublic wetting their panties about Mike Huckabee?
—
I see you have the same body parts and functions thing as your candidate...
But to answer the question I think you are asking. Freepers- by and large- can smell a phony. Some of us support Fred, some Hunter, some Mitt and there are some McCain people too.
Now- you have a large group- with divergent and various views on what’s more important in the election- but you have noticed one thing the majority IS in agreement upon- Mike Huckabee is not the genuine article.
For me personally- my distrust of Mike huckabee is deep and visceral. My sense is that I’m not unique.
“I proudly cast my vote for Fred this morning!!!”
Awesome! Thank you.
Thanks for the support. I wish that all the conservatives were at the top of the ticket but we have to deal with a media including Foxnews that is hell bent on making sure we are handicapped. We really need a news network that errs on the side of conservatism and doesn’t sound like a Sunday morning prayer hour with guys in bad suits giving commentary.
This just cracks me up!
From your popper to G-d's ears!
Bingo! But far more useless for those on dial-up are links and threads for videos...lol
An hour to load a 30 sec U tube vid is hardly worth in.
That certainly sounds good.
Speaking of good South Carolina food, there's also the famous Clemson Blue Cheese:
While blue cheese is not usually considered a breakfast food by most folks, I think that blue cheese makes for a very nice cheese omelet.
He is the most consummate liar who has run as a Republican presidential candidate since I've been able to vote.
Worst Bush quote ever: "See you at the bill signing!" The arrogance. Thank G-d the people here, suffering the worst under illegal invasion, rose up to fight that one.
” ....a McCain Presidency ... I shudder at the prospect.”
Agree. So, if the scenario of McCain as the presidential nominee were to happen, wouldn’t you rather he have someone like Fred as VP? Not that I think Fred would take it. He’d be better of personally/financially going back into his acting career. But if he thought it was in the best interest of the country, I think he’d accept. He is at an age where he would not be using the Vice Presidency to advance political ambition and would serve more as Cheney has served.
If we DO end up with McCain as the GOP nominee, I pray to God the #2 spot goes to someone more stable, more conservative. I would not lose respect for Fred or Duncan Hunter if, under this scenario, they accepted the VP spot. I’d be very grateful.
That is what I’ve been doing today. I’ve been praying. Everyone says they want a leader and then chase after the same circus acts like they are trying to elect a clown. Our part is done for now and all I can hope is that integrity and honor wins this day and if for some reason it doesn’t it may be a shame but it does not make our hopes shameful.
JUDGES (as opposed to legislation) had not been and should not be filibustered.
Removing that “sword of Damocles” being held over our heads would have merely reinforced history and the clear intent of the founding fathers and the historical record.
McCain used that fear, misplaced though it was, to rationalize his actions. He does the same when ranting against “torture” and Guantanamo, claiming our people will be subject to bad treatment in retaliation for what we do. What a crock...as if our people aren’t already being horribly treated no matter what we do.
Another reason I CAN’T STAND MCCAIN!
“I agree. As a FredHead, I really pulled for him to move up in the polls. But it just doesnt seem to be working. (Yes, I know, one big reason is skeptical voters like me).”
It’s not what the polls are, but who comes out and votes.
“If I were voting in SC, I think I would have to conclude Fred will be gone next week...drink some Maalox...and vote for Huck. We can deal with Huck later.”
Deal with Huck now by voting for Fred.
There is no way Fred will drop out before super Tuesday, Feb 5th. Nor, do I expect the other four major candidates to drop out before then. But after 2/5/08, I expect a lot of drop outs—just not Fred. He has more money than McCain or Huck.
“Stopping McCain will be awfully difficult if he wins today.”
Nope. Romney will stay for 50 states and will easily pull more candidates than McCain.

Voting machine problems reported in one South Carolina county
Posted: 11:15 AM ET
(CNN) Poll workers in Horry County tell CNN voting machines have been down since polls opened Saturday morning throughout the county the machines are not reading an activation card.
Workers have been giving out paper ballots but at least one precinct has run out of envelopes to seal them in (not a sign of turnout they had just 23 such ballots on hand). Election workers say that officials have told them they are working precinct by precinct to fix the problem and that a few voting machines may now be running, but some voters have been turned away and asked to check back later.
Three poll workers also tell CNN the county has about 100 precincts and all have been affected. CNN is awaiting a call back from the county’s election supervisor.
Horry County, which includes Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, was a John McCain stronghold in 2000 he beat then Texas Gov. George Bush there by 2,500 votes.
Thats going to hurt McCain.
