Are independents allowed to vote and muck things up? Someone explain to me, why people who choose not to be affiliated with a party get to pick that party’s candidates?

As a FredHead, I really pulled for him to move up in the polls. But it just doesn’t seem to be working. (Yes, I know, one big reason is skeptical voters like me). If I were voting in SC, I think I would have to conclude Fred will be gone next week...drink some Maalox...and vote for Huck.

Drive-By paid-for, poll hugging alert. Get a grip man. The polls have a terrible track record. Fred is surging.

BTW, Mitt's the best alternative to Fred. Haven't you heard Fred's criticisms of Huckabee.

I agree with every word you’ve said. I too hope Huckabee wins today merely to stop McCain.

I believe that South Carolina is a closed Primary state. Voters vote in the primary according to their party registration. So no crossover voting. Anyone??

SC has no party registration, so therefore can't have a closed primary (because everyone would be closed off!).

I won’t vote that ticket, nor will many FRedheads.

We don’t vote for liars, and the VP slot is useless. Not to mention that FRed has stated repeatedly and adamantly that he won’t take a VP slot.

“If you were to vote in South Carolina (I’m glad you’re not) wouldn’t you rather deal with Huck NOW?”

The way to deal with Huckabee - the worst candidate in the race - is to take him out with the trash ASAP. Vote against him and slap his supporters in the face and say “Wake up you fool, he’s a Republican Jimmy Carter!”

I thought the idea should be to vote for the best person in the race. These other nutty strategies do explain why Huck and McCain are leading, I guess.

So?

Does that mean he shouldn’t have performed his job for the last year or so?

He belongs on that list just like the others.

Correct. This year we don't have to worry about crossovers, the Dems are too busy slitting their own throats.

Hearing the weather reports, I’m beginning to think the stars may be aligning for a “Fred Miracle”!

Snow will move in to NW SC after 2pm. Will that benefit Fred the most?

If Dems crossover and vote today in ours, are they then not allowed to vote in theirs?

Vote for anybody but Huckabee.
Huckabee will boldly pander incoherently on a non-issue to sound conservative, while being a liberal populist on the actual issues that matter.

A Huck win is good for another 500 point drop in Dow.

Correct. They can either vote today or in the Dem SC primary later, but not both.

“Wake up you fool, he’s a Republican Jimmy Carter!”

Excuse me, but excepting their espoused faith, and Carter did not bring it up all that much, if ever, on the campaign trail, I would like to know what other criteria you use to make such an incredible comparison.

“i have come to the same conclusion this past week. i want fred to take off, but should he not quite make it, i can deal with Romney. NONE of the rest are palatable.”

Post SC, conservatives are going to need a real strategy to stop McCain/Huckabee ticket.
