Romney has not only won, but Thompson’s numbers dropped from 8% in the polls to (at my last check) 4% at the ballot box. This is behind Ron Paul, which is a bit embarrassing.

I do not say this to bash Thompson. I think it’s clear that half of Thompson’s support jumped to Romney - a 4% boost. We Romney supporters owe Thompson supporters acknowledgment and appreciation.

Mitt’s win blunts McCain and may finish off Thompson as well. Thompson is in 4th in SC, hard on Mitt’s tail. If he could bump Romney for 3rd he’d be a comer. Mitt should get enough street creds out of this Michigan win to prevent that and possibly bump McCain for 2nd. Thompson is finished. 1.2% in NH, 4% in Michigan, 4th place in SC?

FYI. As a Thompson supporter if I were a resident of Michigan I would have gone Romney as well. It was truly an "anybody but McCain" night.
