Rush Limbaugh complains that what is lacking in the GOP field are "the right people to express our conservative ideas and principles."

The dirty little secret is Rush doesn't support Conservatives running against Rinos. Just take a look at Tom McClintock

I don't recall Rush ever taking sides in California against McClintock. He has always been one who has argued with stay at home cause I'm mad Republicans, explaining that the alternative is worse. Thus, he tried to keep people from supporting Clinton or Perot in 1992, even though they were mad at Bush and even though Bush was not his favorite, and he tried to keep people from punishing the Pubbies by not voting in 1996. But he has never been faced with a situation as frustrating as this one, with this cast of characters claiming the GOP mantle as though Ronald Reagan and what he PROVED had never happened. He is at the brink of getting personally involved to direct the party from the abyss.

Rush is the only one we have left, the only Buckley, Goldwater, Reagan who serves as the intellectual stalwart articulating and promulgating the conservative philosophy. He is one of the last lights still shining. He deserves our respect and admiration. Without him out there every day, fighting back against the propaganda, the conservative movement would gradually whither away. A politician with similar vision is needed to translate the ideas into action, as Reagan did. The past 16 years can be viewed as an effort by Democrats and liberal Republicans to undo Reagan's legacy, and it has taken this long to do it, but now their efforts have paid off. The Dems feel confident enough to demand purely socialist programs, and the Pubbies all say "me too". All except Hunter and Thompson. Hunter is the longest of long shots, but Thompson is still out there and he is an honest conservative, if not as conservative as we would like. Much depends on getting behind him and getting him nominated. Failing that, and the Reagan era is truly dead.
