Let me give you an example of the kind of thing I want to see our side avoid. In the 2002 race for governor of Michigan, the Republican candidate, Dick Posthumus, tried to make an issue out of the fact that his opponent was born in Canada.
There were many good reasons to oppose Jennifer Granholm, but this was not one of them. He looked like an idiot (and was), and he lost.
There are many good reasons to oppose Barack Obama’s candidacy, but is the completely unsupported notion that he is secretly a Muslim really the thing we want to hang our hats on? And don’t we run the risk of looking like complete idiots if we do?

You surely realize we are at war with some Islams who are Muslums. This is important and there is nothing secret about Obama being a Muslum. That is pretty much out in the open.
Your comparison doesn’t come close to electing a POTUS who is a Muslum.
