Just what did the Clintons get on Newt, anyway? "Clinton" and "integrity" in the same sentence is like "vampire" and "garlic".
A few years ago there was an opinion piece in the New York Post by a man who was either a congressman or a congressional staffer (specific identity not given by the Post) who wrote that, shortly after the 1994 election, he spoke with a Democrat staffer who said the DemonRats didn't fear Newt because they had so much on him. In June of 1995 Vanity Fair magazine, a Clintonoid organ, ran a short blurb about Newt apparently being involved in an affair.
Thereafter, the Clintonoids began their TV smear campaign against the Republican Congress. Even though, at the time, the Republican party was financially "drinking from a firehose," as described by Haley Barbour, the then RNC Chairman, the party ran no effective counter-ads at any time. At that time, I asked Van Hilleary, one of our local Republican Congressmen, about it, and he said the Republican leadership's refusal to run counter-ads was like a general sending troops to take a bridge without artillery support. During the impeachment Newt was forced to leave the Speaker's position and to resign from Congress when the Callista Bisek affair was revealed.
Thus, I strongly believe the Clintons used the Bisek affair to blackmail Newt into betraying the Republican Congress' program and, because that blackmail worked so well, are forever able to blackmail him with the fact that he was so effectively blackmailed and thereby became their stooge. In sort, he's damaged goods and permanently dirty.
But the Clintons must have OTHER stuff on Newt, for Newt to act the way he does with the Clintons TODAY!! he SLOBBERS all over them. He is DIRTY!
