No, it says and the husband shall love his wife as Christ loved the Church
The Bible says, in another area, that we are to submit to one another in love.
The Bible says, in the same passage, that women are to submit to their husbands, and husbands are to love their wives.
There is no abuse allowed. There is, however, headship, which rubs I guess most American women the wrong way these days. Myself, I have no problem with it.
