So Romney’s good compared to other Massachusetts politicians. Hey— if you had lived in Tennessee, you’d know what a conservative really is and what to compare him to.

My wife was uncommitted on who she would vote for in the primaries.

Tonight she narrowed it down to a Republican candidate with Thompson at the top.

My wife is an MD working in Psychiatry.

We have many interesting conversations about who would or would not make the best candidate.

She ruled out Hillary, saying only that the woman has serious problems that need to be taken into account as to her fitness to be president.

I thought Mitt looked good and answered the Pakistan question well, but I didn’t like how he made it sound like the whole country is a big mess because of Bush— that whole thing at the end about how people aren’t happy about this and that, etc.

Nice try. The others answered the question regarding the Reagan coalition.

Hmmm below is what Fred Thompson said. Regarding the Reagan Coalition, he stated what it stood for, and then let the people know what Huckabee's positions have been.

"This is a battle over the heart and soul of the Republican party, and its future. One one hand, you have the Reagan Revolution and Coalition of limited government and strong national security. On the other hand, you have the direction that Governor Huckabee would take us in. He would be a Christian leader, but would also bring about liberal economic policies; liberal foreign policies. He believes we have an arrogant foreign policing, in the tradition of "blame America first". He believes Guantanamo should be closed down, and those enemy combatants brought here to the United States, to find their way into the court system, eventually. He believes in tax-payer funded programs for illegals, as he did in Arkansas. He has the endorsement of the National Education Association, and the NEA said it was because of his opposition to vouchers. He said he would sign a bill to ban smoking nationwide. So much for Federalism. So much for states rights. That's not a model of the Reagan Coalition. That's a model of the democratic party."

My question was, effectively, did he use the passage Eph. 5:21, which is speaking about the church and apply it to marriage? My reference "The only reference is a general one of believers in the church receiving admonition from one another" was to Eph. 5:21. It is not applied to marriage.

Forgive my query, but Mr. Huckabee constantly misuses scripture.

The reference to Linda Ronstadt and Randy Newman performing “Texas Girl at The Funeral of Her Father”, poignant though it may be, is so obscure that I cannot ascertain its relevance to the point.

Cordially,

True, and what Fred said about Huckabee applied to everyone on stage tonight...

The subject was the future of the Republican party.

Hunters’ out and “they” are trying to drive Fred out...

This is the major shift to the Left of both parties that was predicted 40 years ago....

Fred is the last stand.

Reagan would run as a liberal. Phhhffffttt!

How any Republican can vote of that poser is beyond me...

Hell I barely tolerated Bob Dole!!! I’m certainly in no mood for these charlatans!

I’m forced to settle for the moderate Thompson as the “most Conservative”!...

USSA here we come...

? Huck said he would sign a bill to ban smoking nationwide ?...

Did the cuckoo escape from the clock ? That puts him in the Ron Paul class of the PC—Politically Clueless.

Melvin is a Black and White ball of fur lying here in my lap.

Melvin certainly has a lot more common sense and pleasant attitude than Hillary.

As I wrote in another post on this thread my wife thinks from observing Hillary from a distance that she needs to be throughly vetted for serious problems concerning her fitness to be president.

Thompson has to attack McCain in South Carolina and wherever else he is.
Just how many campaigns have you managed at the national level, to be saying what Fred ‘has to’ do.
________________________________________________________

LOL

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

South Carolina is a heavily military and veteran state..

FRed attack a war hero ??????????

Owen, you have the most stupid ideas...

The conservatives may not vote for McClain because of Amnesty Bills and other libertal views...

but they wont stand for him being disparaged...He is for a strong military and defending our country...

I think FRed has a lot more sense than that...

FRed has a voice in SC...he can just talk about his own voting record and future ideas and be fine...

Duncan Hunter could do good in SC also...

Huck I dont know how he would do...it is a Bible Belt state...

Romney is too city slicker for the country folks...not much about him to impress...

Ron Paul...smile....

Rudi...America’s Mayor...Hmmmmmmmmmmmm might do fair

McClain...war hero...?????

and theres a couple of SC guys running too...

There is more than one problem with McCain. Tonight he harked back to ‘86 and how the government did not keep it’s promises re illegal immigration policy. They said one thing at the time, but did not enforce their policy.

Anyway, he said something very interesting tonight. McCain said that Americans had lost confidence and trust in the government and that Americans needed to trust government again. He blamed Americans - not the governmment, lol. At no time did he acknowledge that the government had to win American’s trust again. He missed the boat. McCain has been part of the establishment for so long he’s forgotten who he serves. At least as far as border enforcement and immigration is concerned, the government has to prove itself to be trustworthy and accountable.

Ron Paul, Huckster, and McCain must go. The other guys need more time to discuss serious things together.

I just got in the door from work and turned Fox on. You are right several of them are not southern. The chick on the far upper right of the screen was upset that Thompson called Huckabee out.

I’m a hard-core Hunterhead, but if Fred nuked McCain the way he did Huckabee I could do it easy. But only if Hunter drops out.

It is also possible that McCain is in there for Thompson. McCain will not win the nomination.
