Just wanted to be clear on that. So you consider Bush and anyone centerward, too liberal to be tolerated and anathema. Got it. The country, on the other hand, considers his too conservative. Baring dispensing with democracy, you've got maybe 20% and only need to convince oh about 75 million people. In the meantime you can have holiness tests off in an impotent little wing, while Dems run the country.

You are being quite short sighted in your analysis. First, I doubt most consider Bush too conservative. His disapproval rating is due to many things including failing the nation on conservative issues. Many are upset with his big spending habits, his failure to enforce the border, and his failure to support Israel. His problems in the Iraq War are noted by conservatives and liberals. So, Bush’s problems are not due to his conservative positions.

Second, if the nation elects a Dem and it is a disaster, who will the country turn to? It will be to my 20% party that supported true conservative principles. If you elect a liberal disguised as a conservative and it is a disaster, you have destroyed the GOP and have placed the Dems in power for years. Think through the 1976 election and maybe you will understand.
