John McCain is now, I think, more likely than not to be the Republican nominee for President.

He won NH in 2000. How'd he fare after that? Pat Buchannon won NH in '96 then stumbled badly.

Presidential elections are a marathon not a sprint.

McCain wasn’t able to capitalize because Bush had taken all the available donor money. This time, there is a ton of money on the sidelines waiting for information on who can take the nomination.
