If you think that Rudy’s judges would be strict constructionists than I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklynn. If Rudy whens the nomination than conservativism is dead and the alliance between social conservatives and fiscal conservatives is over. We will never support someone who supports the mass murder of innocent children.

The problem is that the fiscal conservatives will not support tax raising, wild spending, soft on crime, weak on national defense, entitlement expanding socons.

Looks like an irreconcilable siuation.

Hello, President Clinton/Obama.

Well, then the coalition is dead because I sure as heck ain’t supporting no tax raising, high spending, corrupt politician from Arkansas just because he drops Jesus in every sentence. Being evangelical isn’t really an issue for me. Which means that just being an evangelical isn’t enough to get my vote. You have to be conservative on other issues. Sadly, too many evangelicals are too young to remember Jimmy Carter in 1976. Once again, they’re falling for a liar who talks piously. Of course, the difference this time is that I doubt voters in the middle will vote for the evangelical in the general election. Besides Huckabee’s way too quick to insert religious doctrine into his campaign. That’s no way to win the Catholic vote nor is it a good way to hold onto Utah (or the other states with significant Mormon minorities).
