“I don’t see this as much of an electoral issue”

I don’t think it should be an issue at all. I think if the Republicans start attacking Obama on his Muslim background, whatever it may be, it’s going to backfire into making Republicans appear prejudicial.

We have enough problems as it is during this election.

We have “enough problems” alright, Obama mania is catching on, and it isn’t looking good for Republicans.

I agree with you. I look at this like somebody overcoming an addiction. Sure it was bad at the time, but they are a better person for overcoming their shortfalls and make a better person of themselves.

Who is the “We” of whom you speak. I for one, do not want anyone with any Muslim name, training or relatives near the Presidency of this country. Let the facts be known about Barack Hussein Obama.
No Magic Candidates for me or many other voters.

It’s a huge electoral issue if Obama denies it or tries to hide it. Imagine if Romney tried to hide or avoid his Mormon faith.

And guess what, if Obama owns up to it, it will be a factor in the elections. Post 9/11 I’m sure there are many voters who aren’t ready to pull the lever for President with someone who has Hussein in their name.

Here’s another reason: If Huckabee becomes the Rep nominee, it will be primarily because the Left artificially propped him up to win that nomination so that they could destroy him in the general election...because of his religious background.

If you think they won’t make an issue of someone’s religion, and that we shouldn’t, you are playing the role of holier-than-thou very well known to those who lose elections.

It strikes me that laying out the facts and the background is a useful piece of information.

After all, Mitt Romney’s religion has been vetted fully. Are Muslim religion exempt from that issue?

Give me a break.

I hope Obama wins the Democrat nomination, then, articles like this come out. As for the Republicans after the convention, they BETTER make the Muslin connection and KEEP make it!

The media has been savaging “evangelicals” and mormons. But the media is not permitted to discuss Islamic principles.

I actually don’t find this “evidence” all that convincing. I’m no fan of Obama, but some school he attended as a KID in Indonesia, which was most certainly not by his choice but his parents, doesn’t mean much now.

There are plenty of valid, proveable things to prove to show reasons not to vote for Obama.

Methinks the Hillary camp might have had something to do with this article though...

Disagree. A large part of this population is going to be very uneasy about putting someone with a Muslim background in charge of our foreign policy when we are in fact under attack by Muslims. It is not a religious issue, but rather common sense. The same would be true if we elected someone first generation German during the battle against Hitler. I don’t think it is part of the candidate’s platform, but it certainly is an important fact to be pointed out.

Agreed.

Let Hillary do this. Her back is against the wall, but she has tons of money and a huge attack machine. She will do anything to win.

Follow Rush's lead. Compliment Obama on his speaking abilities, how nice he is and congratulate him for his historic achievement in Iowa. They'll be time for discussing the issues later (an area that he is very weak at).

Wow, n00b! This isn’t about Republicans, it’s about the clinton machine starting vivisection on a squirming fellow liberal who is beating the Rodham-rodent in popularity polls call democrat party caucuses.

That’s ok Slap, the democrats have been calling Republicans prejudicial for many years, but it’s the democRATS who voted to dislodge one Hispanic Attorney General and wouldn’t even consider the first candidate for that post and he was also hispanic. Look at the names they have called Condi Rice and Gen Powell. Whose prejudiced? I don’t recall a Republican going after any minority candidate for an important post in our government.
