Opening myself up to be flamed ...

"I cannot put my finger on it, but it is something."

Think anti-christ.

Now, don't get me wrong ... I don't know whom that might be, but as a Christian, I believe Anti-Christ will enter the human stage.

The colonies were an attempt, at least, to develop societies free from governmental/religious control.

Our Declaration of Independence, Our Constitution, all the arguments and writings that went back and forth (Federal/anti Rederal papers) etc. ... all indicate a desire to live as a Christian-like nation, if not actually Christian.

The USA is the only place on Planet Earth that has vast natural resources capable of sustaining itself with no outside help or trade, (thinking purely mechanical here), and a population that has been feircely protective of the freedoms articulated in our Constitution.

When Anti-Christ comes, he will be worshipped ...

How can a free nation like the US accept Anti-Christ?

Charisma.

We are already so damned PC and brainwashed in gummint skools that we (politicians and others) want to sit and talk, negotiate, discuss (When will the 8 b/m illion dollar fence be built?) until they're blue in the face.

The House and the Senate (especially the Senate) never seem to accomplish anythin that keeps American identity, just sort of adds to, and further blurs who we are.

Conservatives MUST get to the Republicans running for president, that we don't care about health care, or Gitmo, or any of that shit ... and we certainly don't want (more) change!

Damn change ... I want my country back.

Maybe he is as irritated as I am by the lack of substance in Obama’s statements combined with the lack of substance in the reporting about Obama.

As a Rep and a conservative, I could care less about the in-fighting between the Dem candidates. There is plenty of time to go after the Dem candidate in the general election. If they nominate a flawed candidate, it helps us. Let Hillary point out Obama's flaws.

I think some Pubbies are trying to play the same game as dims are playing with Mc huckleberry, downplay ossamma obbamma’s tripwire as they see him as easiest to beat come Nov..

At this point in America, does anyone seriously think anyone with even a hint of mooselimb is going to get elected POTUS? All is required is call him by his full name.

Hoping hitlery will start really attacking ossamma obbamma and turn off his supporters for the General Election.

Of course we have a right to ask questions about Obama’s ties to Islam.
__________

Yes, but now apparently this has been well researched and the best anyone can come up with is that some folks might have a recollection that he might have gone to the mosque with his dad, as an 8 or 9 year old? Not much of a there there, if you ask me.

By the logic used in this article, every single Jewish kid in my connected-to-the-Episcopal-Church high school was practicing Christianity, as we all had to attend chapel services weekly.

Obama is, in my opinion, not at all qualified to be Prez and CiC, but based on his glaring lack of experience, not what religion was practiced on him when his age was in but single digits.

I actually don’t find this “evidence” all that convincing. I’m no fan of Obama, but some school he attended as a KID in Indonesia, which was most certainly not by his choice but his parents, doesn’t mean much now.

There are plenty of valid, proveable things to prove to show reasons not to vote for Obama.

Methinks the Hillary camp might have had something to do with this article though...

I agree it seems trivial at first blush, especially since the variety of Islam followed by most Muslims in Indonesia in the 70's was of the very moderate variety.

But what I found rather interesting is the reaction of the Arab and Muslim world to Obama. With all the current hoopla over him here he may be the highest profile lapsed Muslim on the planet, and the uniform penalty of apostasy within Islam is death. Yet I haven't found anything that is harshly critical of him (at least not in the English-language Muslim online press that I've seen).

Do they know (or suspect) something we don't?

You may be correct. I just see too many more pressing issues that even mental defective voters would gravitate too.

Hell, half the country believes they are responsible for glowbull warming ... 9-11 was an inside job ... that it's alright for the Feds to steal your money and give it away to whom ever ... etc. etc.

They don't even believe there is a war on terror, and if they do they think if we just say were sorry that they will stop blowing us up and lopping off heads.

Only if those Jewish kids were born to Christian fathers.

And only if Christianity and Islam were at all comparable.

" ... The other is to stress on the campaign trail that this country does NOT discriminate based upon religion, even against those who may practice Islam ... "

Like subliminal advertizing.

I like that.

Given Obama's rockstar status, and the dismissal of Fred's serious conservatism because he isn't a rockstar, I would say if Obama is nominated, the sheeple will turn out for him--he is a new day dawning; he is our only hope as a nation; he can bring this country together.----WRONG!

He is more liberal than Hillary, if that is possible. He has 2 years exp. as senator and a few years as a state congresscritter, and he has NEVER once voted for a conservative idea. He is for fullblown social healthcare, total nannystatism, and has no foreign policy whatsoever.

Fred Thompson is the only conservative besides Duncan Hunter in this race, but given the people's appetite for celebrity appeal and one line zingers, Geroge Washington could not get elected. And given 40-50 years of failing public education, too many people don't have a clue of history or what is needed in a strong conservative president.

I think Pipes makes a valid point of how Obama will be perceived by the Muslim world.

Disagree. A large part of this population is going to be very uneasy about putting someone with a Muslim background in charge of our foreign policy when we are in fact under attack by Muslims. It is not a religious issue, but rather common sense. The same would be true if we elected someone first generation German during the battle against Hitler. I don’t think it is part of the candidate’s platform, but it certainly is an important fact to be pointed out.

Does it not bother you that the Muslims are not calling him an apostate?

Well, it bothers me.

I wonder if the general view in Muslim circles is that Obama will return to the fold after he is elected? I wonder if they recognize that, at least for now, no Muslim could be elected to a national office in the US, and they will settle for the next best thing?

And, which candidate would a terrorist vote for?

I agree it seems trivial at first blush...

It is trivial .... and stupid. To review the bidding, Mr. Pipes is hanging his "confirmation" on the irregular mosque attendance of a little kid, 35 years ago. He even drags out a 3rd grade teacher to "prove" that Obama was a "practicing Muslim."

Pipes has penned a stupid, stupid screed. It proves nothing -- it's just a niche pundit throwing tofu to his readers, hoping they'll mistake it for meat.

I agree with what you are saying. For some reason (actually, many reasons) Obama worries me. I cannot put my finger on it, but it is something.

I feel the same way. It goes along the lines of the monster you know is less frightening than the one you don't know.

I seriously have nightmares about the guy. Bad juju. :(

Throwing everything else aside... do you think a Muslim man in the White House would necessarily be a bad thing?
