CLINTONS NO LONGER THE LIFE OF PARTY (inevitability to inadequacy)
NY POST ^ | January 4, 2008 | CHARLES HURT

Posted on 01/04/2008 4:36:45 AM PST by Liz

Awaiting her coronation, Hillary Rodham Clinton instead faced a seething revolt within her own party. More than 70% of Iowa Democrats rejected her....after 15 years of domination, the Clinton dynasty has finally lost its grip on the Party. What's devastating to her is that she lost so badly to a political novice. The problem with caressing the jewels of the crown before the coronation is that it's embarrassing when it turns out that the coronation goes to someone else. Clinton's invincibility has turned into inadequacy.

His aides later said they had to use the Jaws of Life to get him off women who strayed into his path.

They are truly inevitable.

...so is Judgment Day. Never thought I'd be optimistic about that.

Are you suggesting that the Clinton’s will saunter into NH, tell Obama and Edwards that they gotta answer for Iowa, and then settle all family business??

Did you tell your daughters that every president who has ever run has said they are the one to change Washington? Not one has ever changed Washington. I don’t care what party gets in (I am a conservative) that party leader cannot and will not change Washington. Our system of government can’t be changed by one person.

One thing worth noting, though, is that turnout was very high -- which to me indicates: (1) enthusiasm about one or more candidates, or (2) a sense of serious discontent among voters, or (3) significant Dem voter fraud.

Huckabee is more William Jennings Bryant than he is Ronald Reagan (or Rush Limbaugh).

Very good point. This whole Huckabee thing is something to behold.

I think we are also seeing the results of so much instant communication, free advertising via blogs and You-Tube etc.

The people who care and are engaged can seek out there own news filters and thus get fired up.

A combination of general apathy and poorly educated airheads just exacerbates this.

I think the next victims of this new age will be the 2 major political parties.

Even though it is scary to think about, it is also a very interesting thing to observe for a political junky.

Yes they are well aware of promises by politicians. And I could not agree more. The lib civil servants run and operate the Government and the elected officials are mostly window dressing.

Interesting speculation...

The new information environment has certainly doomed newspapers. There will doubtless be other casualties, as well.

As the Republicans race to nominate yet another lackluster candidate, a humiliating primary defeat for Hillary may be the only joy I get out of this election season.

I know what you mean. I'm too consumed with anxiety over the shape of my own party to really enjoy the Clinton meltdown. On the conservative scale, it looks as though only one remains above a 5, actually closer to a 10, but everyone else is dwelling at around a 3 or lower, and that is Fred Thomopson. The man is solid. Please rethink your support for Huckabee or McCennedy.

Even if she finally gets the nomination, a big primary fight will leave her bleeding and weaker for the general election fight

My main problem with Fred Thompson is that his heart doesn’t seem to be in this thing. I never see the guy. It’s like he’s just going through the motions. Also, I haven’t been too thrilled with his responses to questions.
