The latest news from Iowa? According to Zogbys latestand I quote: Sen. Fred Thompson has seen a late-breaking surge. (Rich notes the same poll below.)
Whats going on here? My guess is that there are whole lot of Iowa Republicans who have about the same attitude that David Limbaugh displayed in his column yesterday:
Fred is the only [candidate] I don't have major reservations about
.I find his lack of "fire in the belly" refreshing. He strikes me as one of the few presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan whose primary motivation is not personal aggrandizement but rather serving and leading the nation in very troubled and dangerous times. I see him as almost being drafted into this project, and his refusal to drool publicly over the prospect of becoming the most powerful man in the world is positively delightful.

Or when Checkers is your idealogue on FR.
So your way of helping Fred’s campaign is to kick and scream about how he’s doing so terribly.
Right?
“I talked to a guy in Iowa today who said his wife called him right after seeing Fred speak. She had been supporting someone else, I dont know who, maybe Huckabee or Romney, but immediately switched to Fred. He had been on the fenceshe convinced him to vote for Fred.”
Well..that is a good sign for sure. I will be the biggest Fredster on the board if he gets the nod....not to mention what I will do on the dems boards once he has been chosen(evil laugh).
But just so you and everyone here knows....I will back Guilliani, McCain, the Huckleberry, Romney, etc. too if they get the nod. I will not be ‘sitting this one out’ in the general election no matter what!
“they certainly dont want Thompson who they dont have in their hip pocket.”
This is why we need him.
The great irony in all this is that his campaign is going like this for a reason.
He is not dropping out and is staying on course. There is a lot of things in play here and the primaries are just part of it.
For someone that's a constant pain in the side of Fred Thompson's threads here, you'd expect some of the truth would be getting through to you. Did you watch any of the debates? Did you watch this 17 minute video? Hasn't done much? You are not only wrong, but a little slow.
Does Marketing 105 at State U. count? I'm betting that's his political CV.
“It is truly amazing that you will attack a consistent, committed conservative but are totally infatuated with a lying, flip-flopping, Culture of Death-supporting, gay-loving, gun-grabbing liberal. I guarantee that says a WHOLE lot about you..LIBERAL.”
For Fred’s sake, I hope you are not indicative of average Fred supporter.
Been reading the posts here and hope Fred comes on strong too. Did you seen the interview this morning on FoxNew when Skinner was asking questions about his lagging in the polls and so on..he responded that he is not interested in polls and wonders when the subjects that really are important are going to be asked of the candidates...he won’t go down those pathways and won’t play those games....gotta love those replies..
On this second day of January 2008, on the eve of Republican primaries, what alternative from Thompson do you propose?
Did you fail first grade math? last time I looked there were more than five Republicans running.
Did you conveniently forget that or are you just twisting the facts as you see fit?
Never mind, if facts were what I expected I'm looking to the wrong poster.
Your history speaks for itself.
I'm a folk. And he's got me fired up. His lack of phony hype has me very fired up.
I was confident that was the case, but seeing all the wild hallucinations posted here can make a person question her sanity.
For Freds sake, I hope you are not indicative of average Fred supporter.
Well let's see then. Fred supporters, after seeing Checkers posts in support of Flip Romney on this and other threads would you characterize him as a conservative or liberal? U.S. Army Retired |
Luckily, you're not the HR manager of the United States of America. I will sleep better tonight knowing that.
This was on Fred08; linked by a poster:
“Thompson and Romney crossed paths in Cedar Rapids, where more than 120 people crowded into a home furnishings store to hear Thompson. Romney drew about 50 people to his event. Thompson remarked on the difference in size by saying, “They’re welcome to come over and join us.”
This was an appearance today, more details here (A TN paper that must have a reporter following him):

I know what you mean
Nice catch. Thanks!
scratch the first “has”
{a tiny blemish on an otherwise flawless, rhetorical question}
