My dress-size reminds me of something that happened about 40 years ago.
The local dress shop was having a late summer sale to rid themselves of their summer clothes. My dad was going to the drug store next door to the dress shop for his afternoon coffee with the boys. My mother asked him to go to the dress shop to ask if they had anything left in her size because there was a lot of hot weather to come. As he put it, he went in and asked, "Do you have a size 14 marked size 12?"
They sold him a knit suit; my mother was ready for winter!
