Yah. Well on Fox and Friends this morning an analyst was basically asked how much control Musharraf has over Pakistan, and the answer was that Musharraf has good control over the military, but not much control over the "streets." From what I have seen I would concur.
Let's face it. How many assasination attempts has Musharraf himself narrowly dodged? Three? Four?

The reality is that the US has very little influence and Musharraf has not as much as people may perceive either. It’s a very messy situation on how much control he has over the Army and ISI, the Pakistani intelligence service which is in fact very sympathetic to the Taliban. A former head is openly in support of the Taliban. Gul is waiting in the wings and will seize power if given the chance.
If that means a coup against Musharraf, it will number a total we don’t even know. Between Pakistan intel and ours, I’m sure it’s more like a dozen plots that have failed.
The “streets” will show themselves in short order to be under no one’s control. Or since I’ve been out this afternoon, maybe already.
