With this understanding and clarification, Ron Paul is correct. Government is regulating more and more and more. Regulated industries tend to capture the bureaucracies that regulate them, ie the drug industry influences the FDA, farmers influence the agriculture department.
It's a controversial statement, but it is also a true statement.
“It’s a controversial statement, but it is also a true statement.”
The signal-to-noise ratio on this thread is quite low, but you are one of the few voices of reason.
Those screaming various insults are not actually debating the points made, with a few exceptions. This inability to rationally address points reflects poorly on the quality of people contributing to this forum, but it probably provides some insight into the mindset of the general GOP membership as well.
Of course the classic is simply attacking posters for saying anything remotely in agreement with Paul’s statement, without addressing the statement as well.
Took 34 posts to state the obvious.
" Capitalism is where the government's role in the economy is as a judge to interpret and enforce contracts made between free people. Communism is where the government owns the means of production, think the post office or public schools. Fascism is the original third way, where government doesn't own the means of production, but where the government regulates the means of production."
Since the above does not fit on a bumper sticker, it is not allowed to be a part of the political discussion.
Yep, but one might add that Socialism accomplishes the same thing - total control and/or influence over every aspect of our lives, including the constant and ongoing screw ups of an ever expanding bureaucracy. Only those who have lived under Socialism can comprehend this and unfortunately our ‘skools’ are teaching the kids that this is the way to go. Getting back to RP, he should take a lengthy bath in ‘sheep dip’ and be hung out to dry IMO.
