I hope your right, my gut tells me people are swinging Fred's way. Had a friend all the way across the country email me and we both came to the same conclusion last week, it is Fred.
I posted this on another "Fred-Tread" yesterday:

Here is a copy of what I said:
It is funny, Rush has been tormenting the libs especially after the heat he took on what he said about Hillary that this is his sandbox so to speak, you only play in it. In a sense they have been feeding us Huck, Rudy, McCain and Romney. It would be just like him to show them that yes it is his sand box and thwart their moves to be king maker by being one himself ! Oh the irony of that is just to delicious! It is Rush saying wake up America you half time listeners, it is time to get back to the party of Reagan and I am not carrying your water. Fred will carry his own....
I think it is time to stop the nonsense, I hope Rush goes for it and backs Fred and sets them all straight.
Do it Rush and drive them nuts!
“I hope Rush goes for it and backs Fred and sets them all straight.”
Thats exactly what Ive been hoping. But Rush said something else yesterday that made me think. He made a particular point regarding his show and the relationship with his audience, and I later realized that what he said could also apply to the Fred Thompson phenomenon.
Rush said that the drivebys couldnt take him out or destroy his show or his ratings in any way because they had nothing to do with building it. What built it was the development of the connection between Rush and his audience.
In the same way Fred Thompson is campaigning without the mainstream media, or in spite of them, or whatever. Maybe Thompsons strategy of building his audience the old fashioned way on a grassroots level will give him the power base to withstand future attempts by the media to take him down, due to the fact that they had nothing to do with building him up.
Maybe Rushs appearance of neutrality regarding Thompson is just his way of giving Thompson room to build a solid base of support using the old fashioned, tried and true methods. Who knows. But it seems like a good way to win. It would be like a double irony because the media would be thwarting themselves.
Something about the way Rush says Dont doubt me, that catches my attention.
