Japan Confronts Space Alien Invasion Plans
Strategy Page.com ^ | 12-21-07

December 21, 2007: The Japanese Minister of Defense is calling for efforts to work out the military and legal issues that would result if Japanese were attacked by extraterrestrials. Two members of the Japanese cabinet have expressed personal beliefs in the existence of extraterrestrials out there, somewhere. Because of Japans 1947 constitution, there are restrictions on what actions the military can take. Basically, the Japanese military is, technically, a purely defensive force. But an extraterrestrial invasion might play out in ways that would find the Japanese military prevented, by lawyers, from moving against an extraterrestrial menace.

We're not making this up.

America is being invaded but the government isn't doing a thing about it.

So clever the way you juxtapose space aliens with illegal aliens in your post #4 and get in a shot at W at the same time.

Then to do it again in post #10 for those of us who didn’t get it the first time.

Gee, I wish I were Stewie right now!

This story naturally lends itself to ridicule, but it’s sound policy to at least be thinking about all sorts of improbable things that might happen. I hope somebody in our government is doing the same.

Why confront them? It's easier to offer them a path to citizenship.

LOL!...Let's see...How about we offer them free (a) health and dental care, (b) education, (c) housing, (d) full retirement package (with a golden parachute so as to make their landing easy),...and so on.

What the hell, we're most likely attracting them and I'm sure they would be more than happy to accept the offer. ;-)

In case of extraterrestrial attack, just ignore the lawyers and attack the aliens by having someone set them up the bomb.

It’s so simple. Just cut the strings holding up their flying saucers. I saw “Plan 9 From Outer Space,” should be easy enough.

I think they’re better off figuring out how to defend themselves against Godzilla.

The space ‘illegal’ aliens would just be crushing buildings that Americans would not crush...

That’s two thirds of the French plan. Step 3 is “Collaborate”.

Do the Japanese really have to make an end run around their constitution in justifying research and funding for an ABM shield by reasoning the threat extraterrestrial attack?

As an avid Japanese ANIME and MANGA enthusiast, the Japs are waaaay too space-happy judging by the themes of their animes and mangas.

But you can never fault them for being prepared, right? (wink)
