Today is Christmas with my extended family. It starts with me picking up my sister in law (probably my favorite right relative right now) and driving with her out to the other side of the metro area to my niece’s shower. It snowed here
and I’ve never driven to this house before. I’ve asked both my sis in law and my husband for maps but don’t have them yet.

The shower is supposed to be from 11 to 2. I’m sure it will go on longer than that but I have my sister in law’s promise that we can leave at two because ........ tada........ the entire extended family (20-25) are coming over to my house for dinner at 6-7.

My niece’s husband emailed all the men and invited
them to go hang out at a bar with him during the shower. My other brother and sister in law (parents of the pregnant one) assumed that everyone was coming over right after the shower. I was ready to roll on that and say sure, why not, when I remembered that my son in law is working until 6. Thank you
son in law. And he and my daughter are working on reconciling after six months of separation and we need to love on him.

I’ve cooked a 20 pound turkey and a small ham.
I’m making a huge salad. The rest of the food is hopefully showing up with relatives.

What blessings. But it’s just so intense. Oh, and one of my sons is flying in from Boston to KC and yesterday all those flights were canceled. Today however looks better. I have delegated the cousins to figure out how to get him back from the airport.

I think I’m going to be okay. The house is clean. It looks nice. My husband is speaking to me again. I did have to kick the 104 year old dachshund for peeing on the carpet but I’ve apologized to him.

Let’s see - what else. I’m not sure that the turkey is done because that stupid little red thing didn’t pop out.

Actually, having written it all down, it doesn’t seem all that bad. I just hope that the family doesn’t show up drunk. But hey, that’s out of my control and I may just have to go into the garage and banging my head against
the wall. Good news is that I’m on a strict diet so don’t have to eat the junky food or drink the booze. I’ve dropped two sizes.

So, thanks for listening..... Merry Christmas.
