I disagree with your assessment of Fred. I think he is a natural leader and the Senate wasn't his thing. People like McCain are great Senators because they love to compromise. I think a great leader would find the Senate unworkable, like a truly brilliant mind would view college.

For the sake of argument, do you think Reagan would have done well in the Senate? I view the Senate as a bunch of self important, compromising fools for the most part who think they are one step away from the White House because they won a state wide election.

McCain is one of the main reasons the GOP senate is so @@@@@@ ineffective in holding the line against liberals. That man has been a disaster to anything conservative. All he's done is be Bush's usefull idiot for all his DEM based ideas and John McCain helped him do it. If the senate wasn't Freds thing then why did he run a second term? Why did he allow the Committe Hearings to be taken over by John Glenn and not simply tell the SML you need another chairman as this is not my thing?

Reagan in the senate? I think he would have been a thorn in the flesh of every chair warming Rockefeller Republican holding a seat there. Thankfully two of them are resigning. One left yesterday a good day for America. The other one Warner likely has visions of a Sec of Defense position with Fred if elected and then you will see just how bad it can really get.

If the senate is a bunch of self important, compromising fools for the most part {I agree to a large extent on that} then why elect them as POTUS especially when they can't even run that office right?
