I had the unpleasant experience of witnessing an Obama stump speech in South Carolina. He is so blasted charismatic and mouths the right phrases that he would be more formidable in the general election than She Who Will Not Be Named. Although he has absolutely nothing to back it up, his message is one of a vague hope for a better future, and the undecideds may well buy into that rather than vote against the witches negatives. We had best be careful with what we wish for.

I agree, there is something likable about the way Obama comes off.
Voters love optimism whether it relates to the facts or not.

I thing the nightmare ticket would be Edwards for Pres, Obama for VP. Obama would still energize the black vote, while not having his negatives energize the Republican vote
