ahem

Just look at what google and yahoo (allow PRC to place filters blocking “subversive” content and direct these two companies to inform the govt of ‘illegal internet use’)agreed to gain entrance to the Chinese market. Still think it could not happen here?

China is a dictatorship and readily executes citizens who haven’t committed any crimes. The Clintons may have connections to the Chinese but I don’t know how they would manage to impose Chinese-style controls, even with a Democrat majority in Congress. Look at what happened with the immigration issue—the people of the country are not powerless.

Cant see any silver lining in this.

The Government taking over a News Network would be tragic.

The control of a company being handed down from father to son is the American Way.

That is the Silver Lining.

Fox News was never really conservative. This is an example of 2 things.
1. The left and their useful idiot business partners tryin to redefine conservatism.
2. The saying that any institution that is not explicitly conservative will become liberal.

Unfortunately, we can’t fall back on Conrad Black.

“Ad $$$ is a powerful motivation.”

What liberal MSM has turned more to the center to collect more ad revenue? They’re agenda driven.

I am outta there too. Imagine selecting a liberal and 34 year old to head a corporation.

Don’t think so. I am not watching them anymore. They stink.

Great, just great. So, in one fell swoop, conservatives lose Fox News and The Wall Street Journal.

FOX already has problems with their constant fluff “news”. If they go liberal, they might as well fold. No channel can out-lib MSNBC.

The fact that you even had to mention Government controlled media in this country is no silver lining at all IMO. The boy Murdoch will do as all good little neo-marxists do. He will impose his ideology on the network. Dissenting views will be marginalized and ridiculed. All IMO but I still don't see any silver lining.

Waco happened when the internet was still in its infancy (or at most toddlerhood) and Free Republic didn’t yet exist. Anyway, it was presented as a necessary response to a dangerous religious nut (to save the children, by killing them), not as a message to dissidents to shut up if they knew what was good for them.

Rupert held a fundraiser for Hitlery’s Senate campaign.

One liberal hands off to another.

This type of thing seems to always happen. I remember back in the early 80s there was hostility on the left toward CNN. Ted Turner was actually something of a conservative back then. He put Jerry Falwell on SuperStation TBS. And CNN, in its early days, was fairly well balanced. But seemingly overnight, Turner became a radical lefty. He booted Falwell off TBS and turned CNN sharply leftward.

A lot of foundations that were originally founded by free enterprise, pro-American businessmen were likewise taken into radical leftist territory when the founders’ spoiled rotten heirs took over.

It would be all too typical for FOX to build itself a good audience by being more balanced than the other news outlets, and then to move lockstep in a leftist direction.
