Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee says he has apologized to rival Mitt Romney for questioning whether Mormons believe Jesus and the devil are brothers.
On CNN, Huckabee said he told Romney "face to face" after today's debate in Iowa that he was sorry for the quote from an article to be published in Sunday's New York Times Magazine.
Huckabee told CNN that he had asked if Mormons believe Jesus and the devil are brothers because it was something he had heard, adding that he never thought his query would appear in the story. On NBC's "Today" show, Romney said "attacking someone's religion is really going too far."
Huckabee says he told Romney today that he would never make an issue of any point of Mormon doctrine, adding that the former Massachusetts governor's response "was gracious."
Romney's spokesman, Eric Fehrnstrom, told CBS News' Scott Conroy the apology was accepted.

The operative word there is “Sermons” which should NOT be confused with “Doctrine”!
I thought you were Catholic?
Mormons say etc is you favorite “Jinjle”. Binghamton_native, but when one looks closer, it was the Lord WHO TOLD Joseph Smith!
JOSEPH LISTEN TO THE LORD TELL JOSEPH SMITH!
When the story is told later Joseph Smith replies The LORD SAID THIS TO ME!
Listen to yourself it is your group who thinks they get to set the yardstick for the rest of the religions!
I grew up in a time back in the 40’s 50’s and 60’s each group the protestant, Lutheran and Catholic did not recognized each others baptism in those day this is just a recent phenomenon.
There was a time that in many religions did not go to each other house of worship for such affairs weddings and funerals.
Accually they did go but their was a lot of talk about entering another house.
To say other wise is to not tell the truth because I heard it discuessed (everytime such an event came up the topic got generated) in my house and neighborhood!
People ended up attending but not without rationalizing it with their conscience.
If you have any courage at all, which I do not think you do, the following link is an excellent post-contemporary account (with TONS of supporting references) of how it all came about:

Read Book 1 if you are brave enough at all.
OK, must be so if you say so.
Personally it a struggle for the LDS not respond in kind at times after so many years of this recyle canards, stawman, and taking things out of context which their in most cases cut and paste!
Read Book 1 if you are brave enough at all.
My reply to you nesnah, Read the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ:)
****
It seem none of the critics have ever read the Book of Mormon with a sincere heart, So many take another word of others or X-er's or what ever a stranger post on the internet about the LDS.
But for the life of me I have no clue why A FEW OF YOU who are not on the receiving end of ridicule, issue one hostil post after another?
Did you not ever here of civility?
You have rididcule when I having off days posting (due to dyslexia), mocking my use of exclamation marks!
You have asked questions and than impationtly answered them with sarcam never gave a thought the person might have been called away!
Have a pleasant day, nesnah.
just a mere observation on my part ma’m.
I have the Martin book, and he spoke for a week at my Bible College.
Mormonism is a cult, just as Christianity is a cult.
Now, if you want to talk about destructive cults, that’s another subject.
