At least since the shooting at Wedgewood Baptist Church in Ft. Worth some years ago, many churches have hired off-duty policemen as security during services.

It’s a sad state of affairs that our schools and churches must even have armed police.

Many go to church packing heat.

It feels weird but many do. I admire the Sikh idea that it is a sin to be defensless, yet I admire the idea that it is out of our hands.

I won’t tell you how I know but in our church any LEO in the church service have been asked to carry and any attendees who have concealed carry permits are asked to pack also. It’s a word of mouth thing, not announced from the pulpit.

This all began several years ago when a guy burst into a local church and held the congregation hostage over a domestic despute with his wife, a member of the congregation.
