Denver Channel 9 just categorically stated that the shooter was wearing a tactical helmet and wearing body armor, was carrying a rifle, was shot by a church security guard, and "may not have survived".

The gunman, who was dressed in a tactical helmet and body armor, opened fire outside the 10,000-plus member mega-church, New Life Church located at 11025 Voyager Parkway in Colorado Springs, just after 1 p.m.
9NEWS has learned the gunman was shot by a security guard on scene and may not have survived. An improvised explosive device was also found.
Authorities have not confirmed that the gunman is dead. They say one person has been detained. They are not releasing any information about what kind of weapon was used in the attack.
