In all likelihood, select fire weapons weren’t used. To the press, anything that vaguely resembles an “evil black rifle” is automatic. Truth be damned.

They probably aren’t automatic. The press doesn’t know the difference between full automatic assault weapons and semi-automatic rifles and pistols. I have an AR15 and an AK-47. Pull the trigger once and they shoot one round.

They're usually supplied by the fevered and inventive imaginations of reporters, most of whom cannot distinguish between a MAC-10 and a mango.

You cannot walk into Wal-Mart and buy a AK-47 or an M-16.

But in FREE states you can walk into a gun shop, or pawn shop, and buy semiautomatic versions of either.

But criminals often steal their weapons, or buy from those who do.
