“...Seattles Central District (black neighborhood) as a white person (though you may get some incidents here and there) than you would be in many parts of the hood in Baltimore.”
What are you trying to say here? Seattle’s black area is a district, yet Balto’s is the “hood”?
No, I was calling a neighborhood by its proper name since I had experience with it and called places in B-more ‘the hood’ because I don’t know them by name. I mean, I could say West Baltimore but is that specific enough? Probably not.
But the resident who moved into some apartments (in Seattle) we managed who described Bodymore as right out of the Wire, I guess I can take her word for it or no?
I’ll say it again. Baltimore is far less safe for your average white person than Seattle, even if you’re talking about ‘black’ neighborhoods. Since this thread WAS about a race-based attack, I don’t think it’s inappropriate to make the comment.
I believe the original conflict was about what cities were safe when someone said “any other large city.” Well, Seattle is bar none, safer for the average person (white or black) than Baltimore. I’ve read the stats and think there are other cities that could claim as much. So B-more is most decidedly NOT one of those ‘other cities.’ Better than Detroit? Sure.
